Blade 2
Well, ok. I'm a big fan of the original Blade, so this is a biased review, 'cause it would take a lot to make me NOT like this movie. And in general, it's pretty damned good. Wesley Snipes is back, bigger than life, playing a character he's entirely suited for, the directing is good, it's a wild ride all the way through. That said, my biggest beefs about it:
-Characterization - the head vampire dude... man, he was, uh, kind of a wuss, actually. Effete and 'don't get my hands dirty' type of character, but not in a convincingly scary evil mastermind kind of way either. Just.. kind of there.
-The dissection of the Reapers bit... just kind of reminded me waaaaaay too much of an X-files episode. Stick to making cool weapons and killing shit, the medical class is out of synch.
-Some of the fight sequences were way too heavily into CGI. It didn't blend smoothly, and it should have. I'm not sure if this was an editing fault, or just trying to do too much with the electrons.
But damn, I love that Charger. Even though there's a DECIDED lack of action sequences involving it in this one. If I didn't already have a '66, I'd want a '68 Hemi model like Blade's. Oh, hell, give me one anyway, I'll find a place for it.
